Privacy Policy
Memory Handoff is built around one promise: your memories remain yours. We help you organize, preserve, and deliver them — they are never sent to or stored on our servers.
What we collect
We operate no servers that receive your content. The names, birthdates, photos, videos, and notes you create are stored on your device and, if you enable backup, in your own personal cloud account:
- iOS: your iCloud (the app's iCloud container).
- Android: your Google Drive / device backup account.
We never see this data, never transmit it to ourselves, and never sell or share it. Backups are written directly from your device to your own cloud account.
Purchases
The one thing that does leave your device is purchase information — and only to make subscriptions and the lifetime purchase work. When you buy Premium, Apple's In-App Purchase system and our purchase provider, RevenueCat, receive your purchase history and a device identifier solely to confirm and restore your entitlement. This information is not linked to your identity (the app has no accounts or logins) and is never used for advertising or tracking. This matches the Purchases and Identifiers disclosure on our App Store privacy label. We do not collect payment-card details — those are handled entirely by Apple and never seen by us.
Children's data
The app is for parents and guardians to record memories about their own children. Content about a child is created and controlled solely by the adult using the device, and is stored only on that device and in the parent's own cloud. Because we operate no servers and do not receive this content, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Any future feature that would transmit content to us will be opt-in and accompanied by a COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU) review, including verifiable parental consent where required.
Presentations (Reel & Scrapbook)
Memory Reels (video) and Scrapbooks (PDF/print) are generated entirely on your device. The resulting file is saved to your device or cloud and shared only where you choose, via your system share sheet.
Device permissions
- Camera / Photos — only to capture or attach the photos and videos you choose.
- Microphone — only while you record a video you initiate, to capture its sound.
- Photos (add) — only to save a Reel or exported keepsake to your library.
Subscriptions
Premium features are available via auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time purchase, processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete any individual memory, remove a child, or delete all app data from within the app's Settings. Uninstalling the app removes local data; you control your cloud copy from your iCloud or Google account at any time.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the date above.
